Winnipeg Sun Newspaper

So this happened.

Faith won a contest with Posterjack.  She won a camera and $250.00 gift card.  She basically gets to take pictures all summer long.  Of course Faith is in heaven.  Here is the link to the newspaper article.

Faith has been taking pictures like crazy, and is coming up with some really good ideas.  Each week on Friday she has to pick her 5 favorite pictures and send them to Posterjack.  At the end of summer she sends back her memory card and they will make a virtual gallery of all the pictures.  There were three other kids from ON that were chosen as well.  Here is the link to Posterjack's blog where they will be posting the pictures every monday.  http://blog.posterjack.ca/

Also if you're interested in what Posterjack does here is a link to their website.  I have gotten a few of my pictures printed there.  They are wonderful and have so many options to choose from. http://www.posterjack.ca/

Splash Pads in Winnipeg, MB

So I decided to visit the splash pads in the south end of the city.  We live near the St. Norbert one.  They added more little kid centered ones last year and a fence. The only real downfall with ours is that they messed up with doing the plumbing; so that the new section comes on, then the old section comes on.  But when the old section comes on, there is not enough water pressure to make all the structures work.

So with that being said, most of the splash pads are going to be judged against this one.  We went to the one in Lindenwoods today.  Everyone has always said how great it is, so we thought we would check it out.  They do have two water guns there, which you can't actually shoot each other with.  The water doesn't drain nicely it pools on two sides of the grass making a muddy mess.  It's a small area, but it does have a nice play structure  right next to it. And the centre is open for washroom use, plus the sign says the canteen is open from 11-4 every day.  So if you forgot snacks you could just pick some up there.

Here is a picture of my kids using the water guns

So basically this is the splash pad, there is  a dragon, 3 rings, a tree and floor water sprouts.  Super fun for little ones.

Of course here is a cute picture of my not so little guy.  He's trying to get me with the gun, but it doesn't spin all the way around.

My kids have fun where ever we go.  Which I'm thankful for.  Now we just have to decide which one to go to next.

Strawberries

I've taken the kids strawberry picking for the last few years.  I've never really done it as a kid.  The house my mom grew up in had strawberries, so *if* we were there at the right time, we got to pick them.  The kids always have fun and of course only pick on the outside of the plants.  So it's up to me to go and clean up their rows.  This year we had two rows.  I'm kind of glad we went when we did; it doesn't seem like they had a very good year this year.  Small patches and not spread out like it normally is.  There were SO many thorns this year, that I actually have a bit of rash on my arm.  We've eaten so many smoothies.  I made popsicles, the kids think it's fantastic to make our own.  Nathan is in the freezer as often as he can asking for one.

This years picture.  They all look so grown up.

Canada Day!

We stayed around here for Canada Day.  The kids played in their kiddie pool for most of the weekend.  Payton got a new snorkel and goggles.  She's obsessed with them.  But now all the kids wanted one where they didn't care before.

We went to our community centre on Monday.  Where I helped out with face painting.  Faith offered to help me and really she did most of the work.  She had fun and enjoyed the day.  There was a bouncy castle, splash pad, and free bbq.  I love that our community centre put this on.  I just wish there was more kid activities.

Then we went to the farmers market later in the day for some pony rides and popcorn.  The kids only want to go to the market for popcorn.

Then late at night there was fireworks.  So off we went for that.  Nathan watched with wonder in his eyes.  Faith thought it sounded like gun fire, because she could hear the echo of the blast.  Clayton kept yelling it's farting.  Payton was alittle scared, but thought it was all fantastic.  Do you know what one of the best parts was.  Daddy joined us.  The kids are starting to realize that daddy isn't fun and mom is the one more likely to take you places.
